Gary Stafford,
Minister of Education
Gary Stafford has served as First Baptist Church’s Minister of Education since September of 1999. He grew up attending a Southern Baptist church; however, it was not until he was twenty years old that Gary repented of his sins and asked Jesus Christ to be his personal Lord and Savior.
After earning a B.S. in Secondary Education from Memphis State, Gary taught at the high school level for two years. He then earned a Master of Divinity degree from Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served in the ministry since 1989 and held positions in churches in Coldwater and Olive Branch, MS before coming to serve at Millington. One of Gary’s greatest joys is working with the mission ministry of FBC. He has not only organized but also participated in mission trips to Guatemala, Honduras, and Costa Rica. These trips have included evangelism, medical and humanitarian aid, and church construction. Gary says he is thankful for a pastor and a church that is on mission with God.
Gary has been married to Diane since June, 1983, and they have three daughters, Melissa, Jennifer, and Elizabeth. Gary and Diane, also, have one granddaughter, Anna Grace. He enjoys fishing, as well as, watching football and basketball games on TV.
