Music Ministry
Make His Praise Glorious...
Psalm 66:2 says, "Sing for the honor of His name; make His praise glorious." The importance of singing to the Lord, for the Lord and about the Lord is evidenced by the fact that music is mentioned in the Bible over 800 times. Worship to God is our natural response when He is working in our lives. It is part of living a victorious Christian life. There is a place for every person regardless of age or musical background in the music ministry.
The Adult Choir gives leadership every Sunday in the morning and evening services. They rehearse at 6:30 in the choir room on Wednesday nights. Childcare is provided for infants through 5th grade. No music reading ability or audition is required for membership, just a heart for worship and faithfulness in rehearsals. The choir presents the annual Easter and Christmas musicals, as well as, a mini-concert in August. The Adult Choir is open to 9th graders to senior adults.
The church orchestra accompanies congregational and choral music in the worship services, the annual Easter and Christmas musicals, and presents a mini-concert in August. Membership is open to youth and adults who contact the music office for an interview. The orchestra rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the orchestra room.
The handbell choir participates in worship, handbell festivals, and special events throughout the year. New members (18 years and up) are received by audition and interview with the director. The Carillons rehearse at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the handbell room.
Children, 4 years old through the 5th grade, learn about music and how to worship God through our children's choir ministry. Our purpose is to teach them to praise the Lord with thankfulness in their hearts through singing and playing instruments. We start in the fall and continue through the school year. Kids Praise meets Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. during the Fall and Spring REFUEL semesters.
The senior adult choir rehearses the first Thursday of each month at 11:00 a.m. and sings the third Thursday of each month at nursing homes, as they are scheduled. The choir takes an annual tour to nearby cities to sing in nursing homes, assisted care homes and retirement homes. The choir is open to anyone 55 and up.
